Appalachia and Beyond is currently focused on two regions with their own particular needs

1) Meeting needs already identified for five children and their immediate family members in Kampala, Uganda. Our goal is to expand into the community as current needs are met and funds allow.

2) Helene Flood Relief

Hurricane Helene ravaged western North Carolina on October 27th. The flooding took many lives, homes, businesses, and vehicles leaving many to start over. Others lost their jobs when their places of employment were washed away or closed due to damage. There are now critical needs for these families including the need for warmth/heat, temporary and permanent shelter, transportation, beds, etc.

Appalachia and Beyond would like to help provide for some of these critical needs through one-time gifts or by adopting a family with monthly support. We want to help families get back on their feet as quickly as possible, but we know this will be a long process for some.

We have been helping provide support for a family consisting of a mom, Prossy, and her 4 children, one of whom is an orphaned relative. Their names are Prince, Chosen, Alexa and Dismus. As funds are available, we help their elderly grandmother and an orphaned niece, Riana. The children lost their father, Alex, who was a pastor, to mental illness during covid. The money raised goes toward basic needs including food, clean water, rent, medical care and school for the oldest child. We would like to raise money to provide for some unmet medical needs for every family member, dental care, a wider variety of healthy foods, a washing machine, chicken feed, and school ( education is not free) for the other 3 school age children. Approx 300 -350 per month is pledged at present.

Prossy is need of specialized medical care to treat a back injury. Having a washing machine will help alleviate back pain and enable her to continue washing clothes for others which brings in a small income.

Prossy also ministers to women in her community. She meets with them weekly for fellowship, prayer and Bible study. We have provided Bibles for some of the women. More have requested Bibles and we would like to fulfill this request.
