In Indonesia, in the northern part of Kalimantan, one of our partners has followed the Lord to this location to minister as an evangelist with a holistic, spirit-led ministry (“God is on our team; what is impossible with God”). Villages in the remote jungle mountains are home to some impoverished communities that practice forms of witchcraft and are enslaved by fear. Although a church has been planted in the area, it remains syncretistic—holding to a form of godliness while still clinging to their ancestors’ spiritual beliefs. Yet, God is bringing the rain.

As part of our ministry, we are visiting these villages to offer young adults from these challenging areas the opportunity to attend Bible college in the city of Malinau, covering their full tuition fees. This will allow them to learn more deeply about Jesus and possibly serve the church in the future.

STT Sehati Theological College is in urgent need of our help. In Malinau, the economic situation is very low, and a local pastor’s monthly wage is about $150-$270. The area is impoverished, and many students come from village families living in poverty. Many of these students cannot afford the tuition fee, but that hasn’t stopped the brothers and sisters in Christ from opening the college doors to all who wish to attend.

As a result, the teachers have gone years without a paycheck, and the money that does come into the school is currently being put toward a building project to create new dormitories and classrooms. They hope to build a bigger school, but they cannot do this without our collective support.

Currently, STT College has converted its office into a dormitory and moved the office into the library to do whatever they can for their students, giving them a place to study about God.

Map Global and Punan Ministries would like to partner with STT Sehati to help develop the college facilities and provide support for the teachers and students, enabling them to thrive in their ministry. The tuition fee is $500 per year for one student to attend college. Our goal is to raise over $18,000 for new classrooms and dormitories.

Mr. Jo-hon, one of the teachers, said,

“We have a model around here. We live by faith and hope.”

Mr. Jo-hon has forgotten the last time he received a paycheck and hopes to see manna come from the sky.
